Verkhovna Rada deputy Mykola Shershun of the Lytvyn Bloc faction is proposing that the parliament extend period for the fuel and energy complex enterprises to repay debts owed for energy sources until January 1, 2011, reads draft law No. 3350, registered with the Verkhovna Rada on November 11.

The bill supposes amendments to the law "On measures to ensure stable functioning of the fuel and energy complex enterprises" No. 2711-IV dated June 23, 2005.

The main purpose of this law is help improve financial condition of the fuel and energy enterprises, preventing their bankruptcy and raising the level of investment attractiveness by way of settling procedural issues and introducing mechanism of debt settlement.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in keeping with the valid law No. 2711 the term for the fuel and energy enterprises to repay debts owed for energy sources expires on January 1, 2009.
